SALT WATER CHLORINE GENERATORS convert and recycle ordinary salt into chlorine to sanitize swimming pool water. The system, which can easily retrofit your existing pool, consists of three main components: the digital control unit, the electrolytic cell, and a water flow detection sensor. An electric charge is put into the salt solution of the swimming pool through the anodes and electrodes of the generator’s cell. This in turn disturbs the molecular balance of the salt solution creating the sanitizer and oxidizer needed to disinfect the water. Chlorine is automatically produced into the swimming pool day in and day out to help maintain a constant chlorine level. A single bacteria can multiply rapidly in only minutes, therefore sanitizing is the key to the prevention of infection and disease. Your pool can become much easier to manage and your water chemistry parameters are more likely to be kept within their recommended ranges to help keep the water blue and clear.

Chloramines, not chlorine itself, are what cause the odor and irritation to the eyes and skin that most swimmers experience when swimming in a traditional chlorine swimming pool. The electrolysis in the cell of the generator and the chlorine that’s produced attack contaminants in the water to help keep these chloramines from forming.

Although salt is necessary for the system to function, the salt is almost undetectable to the taste. The amount of salt in your swimming pool will only be equal to 1/3rd the salt of your tears. The content of salt in the ocean is approximately 36,000 parts per million (ppm). Whereas the salt level needed for your salt water chlorine generator, per manufacturer’s recommendations, is only around 3,200 ppm.
